It’s been awhile since I’ve posted about Ben and I’s relationship on the blog. As we are celebrating 13 years (as a couple) and I am being flooded with memories wayyy back to the beginning, hehe, I thought it would be a good time to share. So, if you’re here with me today, reading my words, I’m going to share a little piece of my heart with you and my relationship with Ben.

Ben and I are entering a new stage in our life, our thirties. He’s catching up to me in 2021, hehe (he’s still 29 and I want him to savor every second of it)! In new stages there are moments, if you will, that life kind of gives you flashback’s. And one that really struck both Ben and I is my nephew James, who just turned 15 (one year younger than Ben was when he asked me out). Looking at our nephew and this stage of his life, we’re having these memories of us at 16 and 18, making a GIGANTIC life changing decision, choosing our life partners. Each other.

Ben often tells me that he knew if he asked me out, we would get married. He recalls mulling it over, knowing that he could let me pass him by or he could jump in. Again, guys he was 16!!! What a huge choice for him to make, a choice that altered the course of both our lives forever.

All of that to say, if I knew everything that I know now, and could tell my 18 year old self all the good and all the bad. Because there is both. I would without hesitation marry Ben all over again!

To me, marriage is about going through life with a best friend by your side. Life would be hard, WITH or WITHOUT Benjamin but I can tell you one thing for certain. My bad days are less painful with him and my good days are even better. And that’s what marriage is really all about! Having that person, YOUR person right beside you.

Ben and I will be celebrating 10 years of marriage in September. I was thinking of doing a blog post about 10 things I’ve learned in 10 years of marriage. That’s why I am keeping this one shorter, believe it or not this is the short one 😉 But, before I go, I thought I would test that idea out on you. Would you like a blog post like that? If not, is there anything in particular you would like me to share about? I’m so passionate about this topic, so if there’s anything, don’t hesitate to let me know.

xoxo, Emmarie.
